Ready To Go - A car named Dave - Gallery

Day One - Day two - Day Three - Day Four - Day Five - The End!

Thoughts from the team - Chris - Adrian - Dan - Al

It was a sad start to the day, we all realised that "Dave" was to make his last trip. But before we could do that we took a trip into Rome to check out the Popes place. Adrian had the map and we managed to circumnavigate the long way around the vatican! after a coffee in a very nice cafe we finally made it and guess what? the pope was a no show! the vatican which looks like a big old town hall would benefit from having the front turned into a big car park which would ease the congestion problem.

Now if I was Gods right hand man and lets face it if your the Pope you must have a direct line to God, I would want a crib in a better part of town away from the bloody tourists! We had scout round inside, a nice bit of coving and a few old statues but not a lot else, the Swiss Guard are pretty boys!

That was the Popes place done so off we went to the Sistine Chapel apparently some painter and decorator geezer called Michelangelo better known as Dave painted it between 1508 and 1512 not quite sure of the exact dates as he was moon lighting quite a bit down at the Popes place. But I can tell you that any decorator that takes 4 years to paint your ceiling is having a laugh.

Anyway the queues for the Sistine were massive so we headed off to a big old round building thats half finished the Colosseum or something, now theres a building crying out for development, city center apartments or maybe even time share.

Now just imagine its 80 A.D and your agent phones you and tells you that Domitian has asked that you play the Colosseum and you are to top the bill! you will not need your guitar but running shoes might help! Now thats one gig you might want to turn down.

Also if the colosseum was built with 80 entrances to allow crowds to arrive and leave easily and quickly why does it take so bloody long to get in?

That was our whirlwind sight seeing out the way now to the job in hand taking "Dave" on his last trip, before we did this we thought it only fare that "Dave" visit his own vatican. Mazda Roma!
